| Please sign my guest book! - SHEDIAC COP SHOT, CRUISER
STOLEN, Information Sought! =========================
http://welcome.to/shediac
========================= During the early morning of June 2, 1981 and while working
an unschedualed double shift, a former Police Constable was shot 5 times and left to
die on the grounds of Louis J. Robichaud High School in Shediac, New Brunswick. His
assailant then stole the Police Cruiser, turned the emergency Roof lights on and
headed east eventually leaving the Town of Shediac. The officer shot managed to call
the dispatcher on his portable radio and gave him a location. However according to a
witness to the crime the officer's responding went to another location. |

| I'm glad to see a site which
talks fondly of VMS, but there are two major problems on your page
http://www.webmythology.com/VAXhistory.htm in the VMS Webring. I see that you are
actively updating the page, and have modified it as recently as last Sunday.
First, "AXP" was in internal name for the Alpha
processor, not for the software.
Second, to your claim that VMS and the Alpha are dead,
if you'll visit
http://www.openvms.compaq.com/ you will see that VMS and the Alpha processor
are far from dead. In fact, the best thing that happened to VMS was Compaq buying
Digital -- Compaq recognizes that VMS is a money maker and is heavily investing in
VMS.
Without knowing it, you probably used VMS dozens of
times already today. When you turned on your lights, chances are that a VMS system was
involved in your power company's generation control systems. If you made an 800 call,
the destination of that call was probably looked up on a VMS system. If you used a
cellphone, the billing was most likely done by VMS. If you bought or sold securities
or options, VMS probably was involved in the transaction. If you bought a lottery
ticket, VMS was probably used.
Our customers still rely on VMS for 24x365 computing,
and they still purchase several billion dollars per year in hardware, software, and
services. We are committed to continuing development of both hardware and software for
OpenVMS for many years to come.
A true VMS renaissance is underway, and as a VMS fan, I
hope you will update your site to reflect that fact.
