Oh, what a great site you have. There is so much information and a good reference site. I like the idea of adding a picture of people next to their entry in the guest book. Back to reading more of your site. Thanks for all of the information!
Regards,
Michelle

Thank you so much for such good information. I have a web site that I have been working on for over a year, and am trying to improve the traffic. I know that I need to redo my meta tags (my site was originally designed and built by our web designer at work, who has since died. At the time, he saturated my meta tags. Now I understand that they need to be trimmed down, and redone. I am trying to find someone to assist me in redefining them (I know how to place them on my web pages).
I will continue to view your information, in the hopes that I can find what I need.
Thanks again, Sandi Myers

Hi Richard! Just dropped by after reading your article on changing your colors and had to see what all the fuss was about - *smile!* Personally, I like your color choices, very bold and daring ! I also added your Ezine ad site in your website promotion "add a link" and hope you don't mind, but added a link to YOUR site on our own partners page. If that does bother you, just write! (We're getting 25,000 visitors a month). To your success! Theresa

When Irish eyes are smiling,
Tis like a morn in spring.
With a lilt of Irish laughter
You can hear the angels sing
When Irish hearts are happy
All the world is bright and gay
When Irish eyes are smiling
Sure, they steal your heart away.
May your blessings outnumber
The shamrocks that grow,
And may trouble avoid you
Wherever you go.

re: Change your colors.
I wholeheartedly agree with your views on the uncreative and scary cats who are frightened of colour and hide behind 'usability' as justification. Last year the worst crime was using templates, now everyone wants you to look like everyone else i.e. a template. This extends to navigation, images and content. It is getting like diet fads. Mistakes are made but at least walking on the challenge includes this. Dare, don't be square is my motto. Keep up the good work and common sense. Nice colour scheme by the way.

I like your site. I am trying to learn more about security & firewalls so I can keep my system as clean and safe as can be. You may wish to update your info on cookies though. Internet Explorer 6.0 (comes with XP) does have better cookie handling. It allows you to pick & choose which cookies you will accept, and it also gives you option of not accepting 3rd party cookies all together.

I know you're swamped with e-mail but I wanted to take a second to thank you for giving me your beautiful Heart and Soul award today. I know if takes a lot of time to read and assess the content and design; so the careful review, coming from a fellow webmaster, makes this special and meaningful to me. It's now displayed online with a live link back to your site.

As you know, I've been at this for only a year. I'm a true newbie. I had no instruction and all my learning is through trial and error--lots of error. When I wrote in your guestbook that I learned more from you in the last couple weeks than I have all year, I wasn't kidding. I've been reading all your articles, studying them with great seriousness and--wow-the things about running the Web site I'm learning from you are eye-opening. For example, when I first found your Web site, I read an article about "right click disabling." I was horrified. You see, two weeks before finding you, I, by hand, installed right click disabling on all 400 of my pages, after being told that was the only way to protect people from stealing content and using it as their own. I felt happy and smug to have "pulled one over" on potential thieves. Then I read your article and realized you were right about everything you said; you made good sense. So, I took a weekend and page-by-page removed all the code until my wrist swelled to golf-ball size and my husband had to pry me away from the computer with a Vaudeville hook in the wee hours of that Sunday morning. I was glad you taught me that lesson!

Every day--no kidding--I watch my mailbox for your tips newsletter and every day I learn something new. I can't thank you enough. I have so much to learn. I read your article on the importance of Alt tags on images and I'm embarrassed to say, even with your excellent instruction, I'm too thick to figure out exactly how to incorporate these tags with the images. But I'll keep perservering! I do want the Web site to be friendly and usable for all who have access only to text based information. So much to learn, but I'll work hard to learn it.

I agree with what you said about guestbooks and always sign them to let the webmaster know that his/her work is appreciated. I'm embarrassed to say I've had few visitors to mine and I'm thinking of pulling the book because lack of feedback is painful--especially after putting in 12-17 hours a day, often seven days a week. Same with the message boards. From statistics I can tell people are lurking but almost no one posts and, because I run the site alone and am often ill, I can't be around to add posts of my own. I did love your advice on your Web site about this and will try to create different strategies.

Thank you for everything. I'm amazed at the way you crank out daily, excellent newsletters and love each one so please, never stop. You have an eager, appreciative reader and student of your advice here! Also, before I go I want to tell you: I love you relaxed, warm writing style and your sense of humor. You're an excellent writer.

Take care and have a great weekend!

With deep appreciation,

Jillian

I love your site. I first arrived here via the HTML helpers ring. I find myself coming back time and time again. You have so much useful information here. I just finished reading the "change your colors" page...BRAVO! I'm not generally a "sign my guestbook" person, but after reading that page, I felt I needed to sign yours. Anyway, thanks for sharing your knowledge with the rest of the world.

I just read your posting "Change your colors" and all I can say is amen! People always try to tell you what colors you should use on your site and it drives me nuts, especially for a personal site. That's why they are "personal," because they reflect our likes and all. If you're happy with your site, who cares what everyone else thinks? I certainly don't care what others think of my personal site. :-) In the previous iteration I put the navigation on the right, just because I liked it there...and the pages had some outlandish colors. ;-)
BTW, I like your site's colors...the side bar is cool. And I've always loved a dark background with light text...easier on my bad eyes.

What a fabulous site, a goldmine of information! I found this site through an article content group, visited and was hooked from the get-go. I've been a webmaster for only a year and feel, since I discovered you two weeks ago, that I learned more in two weeks about crafting a Web site than I have in the last twelve months. I subscribed to your newsletters and eagerly await their arrival in my mailbox. Thank you for this professional yet warm and down-to-earth resource! Fabulous!
