Well I have been back and back and back - I love your site. I thought I would try to read through all or most of the site before signing, but that may be a while yet . I was just read your comments about the award program (yes, I did apply for your award-smile) and decided to go ahead and sign your guestbook now. I'm not sure whether I agree with you about not providing any constructive feedback (hard to improve if you can't take pointers), but it was interesting to read through your point of view. I have thoroughly enjoyed reading your opinions and thoughts, on award programs, webrings, webrings, submissions to search engines (something I haven't done yet) and visiting your About Us page (Did one of you guys draw the caricatures?). I have picked up innumerable tips and have bookmarked your page. I've got lots of work to do now on my site, so I better stop here. I liked looking at the sites that have won your awards. Most of them are not commercial sites and I like the "all singing, all dancing" Java and Flash but I think that from a commercial point of view, when you are offering goods or services people who visit the site are only interested in accessing information.
Putting informationa into a site is the boring part of it all! People want links that work! That may sound silly but I visit so many sites where the links don't work and it's really aggravating.
I have just finished a course of Website Design at a local college and I love it. It can be frustrating, aggravating (especially JavaScript when it doesn't work!) and stress-filled. It certainly is very time consuming.
I have, so far, mostly done sites for schools which do take a long time because they are full of tables of exam results etc. I don't use "packages" for my pages because it seems to take longer and you are limited. I prefer to write the code. I sometimes use Windows if my pages are being particularly frustrating and I use Corel Draw and Photoshop.
I must say some of your sites make me feel rather inadequate but it's early days yet and "practice makes perfect" as they say.
